Today at 7 pm the famous Christmas lighting in Calle Larios in Málaga city, is finally inaugurated! From now on, music and light shows will be offered every evening between 7 and 10 pm until the 6th of January. The exact times of the shows are not announced, in order to avoid crowds as much as possible.
Málaga's Christmas lights are one of the most popular to visit in all of Europe. However, it is not just Calle Larios that is decorated. As many as 500 streets and squares in Málaga have been decorated and this year there are several exciting news compared to previous years.
One of them is the Christmas lights set up in the botanical garden La Concepción, a bit outside the center. See pictures on the newspaper Diario Sur's website.
Although the city of Málaga invests heavily in its Christmas lighting, despite the fact that the event has become larger each year and constantly attracts more and more visitors, the budget for the electricity consumption has decreased to a fifth between 2009 and 2021. This is thanks to a parallel investment on sustainability.
