In Spain there are between 25,000 and 30,000 active real estate agencies, which means around 90,000 people working in them. The real estate sector is one of the engines of the Spanish economy that generates the most jobs. Despite its importance, there are many who mistakenly believe that it is not necessary to have a special education to work in the real estate sector. Felicity Estates decided at the beginning of 2022 that we wanted to be one step ahead of possible future regulations and make sure we had - literally - a license to sell!
Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands are Spanish autonomous regions where it is already mandatory to register in a special Registry of Real Estate Agents. The requirements are, for example, a minimum and basic training in commercial techniques, in real estate law and knowledge of the specific sector regulations of the autonomous community where you practice, in addition to civil liability insurance. The purpose of registration is to promote transparency in the real estate sector and guarantee consumer protection.
In Andalusia this requirement does not yet exist, but that does not make it less important. At Felicity Estates we value seriousness and knowledge, and we take very seriously the responsibility we have for a purchase and sale transaction until its completion. That is why it was natural for us to invest the money, time and dedication to obtain a Real Estate Agent diploma, in addition to having a civil liability insurance. Just because the law does not require it, does not mean that as professionals we do not have the obligation to train ourselves to provide the best service to our clients.
We opted for the course offered by Surge Centro de Estudios, since it is recognized as a training center by AICAT (Agent Inmobiliari de Catalunya).
What does the Online Real Estate Agent course consist of?
There were approximately 250 hours of studies in total on the following topics:
