The SIMED (Salón Inmobiliario del Mediterraneo) annual real estate fair is currently taking place in the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga. Felicity Estates was already on site yesterday Thursday to take a look at the exhibitors, make new contacts and listen to some of the seminars. Among other things, one that was about the Costa del Sol as a destination for those who buy a second home. Interesting reflections were made, among other things, by the participants in the panel about the whole concept of “residents” and “non-residents”, about first and second residents, starting to loosen up.
Málaga and the Costa del Sol are so much more than a holiday destination, it is a place to live and work. And if we used to go away for vacation, nowadays we might just as well go away to work. We take the work with us and at the same time enjoy the sun, the beach and a change of air. The boundaries between work and vacation have been blurred in that sense, and Costa del Sol is an ideal place to enjoy a well-functioning infrastructure and climate that meets the needs of both.
The day before the fair opened, we could read in the newspaper Diario Sur about how the province of Málaga leads the recovery of the real estate market in Andalusia and is now very close to the level of activity that was before Covid-19. The recovery is described in the form of a V and the growing demand has had consequences such as rising prices in both the purchase and rental market. In September, Málaga was the province in Andalusia with the largest price increase (4%) compared to the same month last year.
SIMED is open to the public on Friday and Saturday between 10 am and 10 pm.
